Barbara Holt Streeter has a passion for people! As a public relations and protocol/etiquette specialist and philanthropist with over 20 years of experience, she is gifted as a public speaker, event emcee, trainer and mentor.
She provides services and training to individuals and companies that are ready to launch, build and maintain their image and reputation. She provides public relations, media relations, government/strategic relations, protocol/etiquette and girls/women empowerment training and services. Effectively using her PR and Protocol tools, the name “MrsPRProtocol” was given to her. She uses the phrase often, “Your Business is your Brand and your Brand is your Business.”
Professional Experience:
Holt Streeter prepares companies and individuals for protocol and public relations visibility on local and national media, such as FOX5, NBC4, NewsOne, WJLA, The Gazette, The Washington Post, WHUR 96.3FM and Radio One to name a few. She integrates the most effective tools through traditional protocol, public relations, social media, and relationship building to gain positive visibility. Holt Streeter is known for her proactive approach to the phrase, “What to do, when to do it and how to say it?” She will teach you to use the right protocol tools to build your brand with sharing the tip, “When you walk in the room what does your image say about you? And, when you walk out of the room what does your reputation say about you?”
She coordinated, promoted and provided protocol guidance for high level and confidential visits by President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden for K. Neal International Trucks and President George W. Bush for First Baptist Church of Glenarden. She has been instrumental in promoting and planning grand openings, golf tournaments, charitable teas and women’s conferences with audiences ranging from 10 to 10,000. Working with The White House staff, federal, state and local elected officials, faith-based organizations and celebrity artists, she is the strategist and connector for individuals, events and projects and has managed and cooordinated national book tours. She has created and conducted high-profile business, public relations, etiquette and relationship training workshops.
Working with organizations, she raised funds while collaborating with corporate sponsors and individual donors for golf tournaments, galas and other charitable organizations, such as Maryland Charity Campaign, American Heart Association and SHABACH! Ministries. Her government experience included serving as the director of communications for Maryland Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown and manager of external affairs, Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. Additionally, she holds the position as the community relations liaison and protocol specialist for First Baptist Church of Glenarden, a vibrant progressive church with over 11,000 active members.
Community Partnership:
A servant leader with a strong passion for empowering girls and women, in 2010, she created I AM ...Validated inspirational T-shirts. The vision is to Empower, Educate and Equip girls and women to believe, accept and fulfill their purpose in life by embracing their self-worth. She guides professionals in various protocol training: From the Boardroom to the Ballroom, Look Like A Leader, Work the Room and Silverware & Seating Savvy to name a few. Empower, Educate and Equip girls and women to believe, accept and fulfill their purpose in life by embracing their self-worth. She mentors personally and professionally young ladies ages 13 to 30 and shares her testimony of overcoming low self-esteem through humor and interaction. She is very passionate in teaching particularly girls and young ladies ages 9 -29 etiquette and lifestyle skills to help prepare them for the future. She also offers special tea parties for the tots. In the summer of 2012, she launched the Pearls & Pinstripe Protocol Program which provides tools and tips with the “S” factor for Success – Social Grace, Self-Image/Leadership Development and Scholastic Achievement. She hosted a five-day summer program for young girls which included daily speakers, field trips and sessions ranging from Communication & Conversation, Divine Dining and Who AM I?
In the fall of 2012, she launched The Girlfriend’s Gratitude Tea as a result of the death of one of her girlfriends. The Girlfriend’s Gratitude Tea provides an experience for women to receive and give Gratitude, connect and collaborate together while giving back to the community. Since the inception of the annual Tea events, she and her team have giving back to various organizations and individuals; Breast Cancer Advocates, KennedyFoundation.net, BlackGirls Unscripted and Fashionista Entrepreneur Academy.
In 2013, she created the Classy & Chic Coat Drive as one of the community projects under The Girlfriend’s Gratitude Tea. With collaboration from the attendees, community and corporations; 70 new coats were donated to teenagers who were in need of a new coat for warmth and self-esteem. The girls attended Central and Largo High Schools in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The event received high media attention.
Education, Professional and Personal Affiliations:
Receiving her graduate degree from Georgetown University in Corporate Communications/Public Relations positioned her to broadened her professional skills. She is an active member of ColorComm Network, First Baptist Church of Glenarden, National Association of Black Journalists NABJ, Women Business Owners of Prince George’s County, Sisters4Sisters Network, Inc., and Women’s Speaker Association. Recently, she received an appointment to serve on the board of The Black Public Relations Society.
She served as a board member for SHABACH! Ministries, Inc., Top Banana Home Delivered Groceries and American Heart Association Prince George’s County. Over the past ten years, she received several awards and recognitions from First Baptist Church of Glenarden, SHABACH! Ministries, Inc., Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital and other organizations. In 2014, she received two awards: The Joe Manns Black Wall Street award and recognized as serving seven years as the visionary/editor director of Grace Magazine. In 2012, she was a finalist for Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce’s Entrepreneur of the Year.
